Manufacturing Engineer II/ Tool and Die Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY
An Engineer II is a problem solver, facilitator, change agent, innovator, resource, designer, and project manager. Responsible for performing these functions on issues as they are assigned (or arise) in the designated area. The Tool and Die Supervisor is responsible for effectively leading, directing and controlling Tool and Die technicians engaged in safe, expedient installation, and repair of fixtures and machinery to maintain and improve equipment reliability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Responsible for the successful completion of small to medium sized projects of medium complexity with less clearly defined goals/scope and concise project reports.
2. Evaluates needs, analyzes options, develops plans, develops Appropriation Requests (AR) and manages implementation of project until completed within the allotted time frame.
3. Assists and guides support personnel in technical matters as needed.
4. Develops, installs and maintains optimum processes for the safe manufacture of quality product in a productive manner.
5. Develops procedures and provides training on new processes, tools and equipment, including but not limited to: defining Preventative and Predictive Maintenance requirements and mechanical evaluation of processes and equipment, as needed.
6. Coordinates successful corrections to production problems using sound manufacturing engineering problem solving techniques and practices. When needed, develops alternate methods or processes to allow emergency continued production.
7. Supervise routine, preventative and project tool and die work assignments to optimize the reliability of plant equipment and the facilities.
8. Work collaboratively with production supervisors and managers to plan, organize and justify cost for project implementation and to solve tool and die related problems, reduce costs and improve operations.
9. Develop, motivate and direct technicians to improve the required skills and performance to meet department objectives.
10. Ensure that Lozier HR, Safety and Environmental programs are followed.
11. Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments
12. Ability to work and interact well with others.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

3. Work collaboratively with vendors to solve engineering or tool and die related problems, reduce costs and improve operations.
4. Ability to lift and carry product and materials occasionally.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
o BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or appropriate substitute at manager's discretion)
Experience:
o 2 to 5 years of applicable engineering experience or equivalent, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
o Demonstrated success in managing a technical area, such as tool and die.
Required Skills:
o Mastered Manufacturing Engineer I skills.
o Average to above average PC skills.
o Working knowledge of tool and die in a manufacturing setting including welders, brake presses, roll formers, punch presses, lasers, CNC equipment, and dies.
o General mechanical and electrical knowledge including troubleshooting.
Preferred Skills
o Knowledge of machine programming systems. Knowledge of the Lozier Data Systems.
o Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Inventor.
o Use of MP2 to track machine components and labor cost related to equipment.
o Knowledge of project planning database programs.
o Knowledge of standard budget processes.
o Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes.
SPECIAL DEMANDS
o Must be able to navigate throughout a manufacturing facility or warehouse 75% of the day.
o Some travel is required.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
